Amelia Island

By Dennis C. Blackburn, DO, FAOAO
CME Committee Chair

Here we are in December looking ahead for the 55th Postgraduate Seminar. So grab your swimwear, fishing poles, and golf clubs, we are heading to the Barrier Islands of Florida.  Amelia Island is known as the “Isle of Eight Flags”.  France, Spain, England, Patriots [not the football team], Green Cross, Mexico, Confederate States, and the United States have claimed this 13 mile barrier island beach destination.

The 55th Postgraduate Seminar will offer lecture topics involving current concepts, future concepts, tips and tricks, pearls and pitfalls, and complications of Sports Medicine, Adult reconstruction, Shoulder & Elbow, Spine, and General Sections.  The Pediatric Session will focus on review of case studies. We anticipate being approved by the AOA for 19 Category 1-A CME credits for this meeting.

Into golf? Plan to participate in the AOAO Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, April 17. The exact time and course location will be announced after the first of the year.

So come and enjoy 13 miles of beach destination or other outdoor activities such as hiking, sea kayaking, checking out the Manatees, and local sea turtles. For those of you who want culture, book a guided tour and learn the rich history of the Barrier Islands and Amelia Island.

As always, we encourage you to attend our meetings and SUPPORT our Exhibitors! Plan to have lunch with them during the meeting and see what is new coming out on the market.

Once you book your travel to the meeting, be sure to download the AOAO app from iTunes, Blackberry World or Google Play. The app contains the Mobile Meeting Guide which includes the conference schedule, list of registrants, exhibitors and more!
