residents and students

With the New Year come many new challenges as well as many hard earned rewards. We are continuing to see our student organization grow with new students being added throughout the year. This was very evident at our last conference in San Diego, California in which we had over 60 students in attendance throughout the weekend. This was the biggest turnout we have ever had for a conference. Our Residency Program Director Panel and our Resident panel were tremendous successes with 5 Program Directors in attendance and around 10 programs represented by residents.
We hope our spring conference in Dallas, Texas will be as successful as the one in the fall. This is the conference where we hold our annual elections and we recognize our recent “Orthopedic Matchees”. We will also have a few resident led lectures and a “hands on” club activity.
Speaking of “Orthopedic Matchees” - we are very proud of all the club members that matched in February. Last year we began tracking all of our members that match into an orthopedic residency program using a brief survey. We are hoping to continually show that membership in the SAOAO is beneficial with regards to each students’ ultimate goal of obtaining a residency position.
Last, we always appreciate any physician’s willingness to participate in our activities. If you would consider contributing to our Student AOAO newsletter or participating in the Student AOAO conference, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In closing, we of the SAOAO wanted to convey how incredibly grateful we are for the AOAO and all it has done for us. We know how valuable a doctor’s time is and thank all involved for lending a hand.
