Government Affairs

The AOAO Government Affairs Committee works in conjunction with the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons to evaluate governmental policies pertaining to the practice of orthopedic surgery. This committee also works with the AOA to advocate for political and educational equity for Osteopathic orthopedists, and they review position statements and provide information to the AOAO members on governmental and regulatory issues affecting the practice of orthopedic surgery. 

The Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Lee Vander Lugt, along with members of this committee attend DO Day on the Hill, two face-to-face AOAO/ACOS meetings, and conference calls each year to represent the AOAO and to stay abreast of the policy and regulatory changes proposed by Congress.
