57th Postgraduate Seminar: Here’s what you missed

Omni

Quality Educational Content
This year’s meeting theme was “New Technologies and Procedures from 2017 and Beyond”. Each specialty session offered educational topics on new procedures. Of those who attended 91% responded that the content would affect their practice which proves the CME Committee and the session moderators continue to provide quality lectures.

AOAO members may now access the lecture slides (from those speakers who provided consent) from the 57th Postgraduate Seminar.

Fireside Chat
The Trauma section conducted a Fireside Chat on Friday, April 28. This session was a huge hit! Surgeons discussed trauma cases while sipping Tennessee whisky.

Grand Ole Opry
Many members took advantage of the AOAO blocked seats at the Grand Ole Opry. The lovely Connie Smith opened the show and many long time country legends performed along with a few new artists like Russell Dickerson and Shane Owens. Long time country legend Ricky Scaggs gave the crowd a short but rousing blue grass set. And what a treat – Randy Travis appeared on stage for a brief wave to the crowd!

Charity Golf
Twenty people participated in this year’s Charity Golf event on Friday afternoon at the Hermitage Golf Course in Nashville. The AOAO Foundation received approximately $3,000 from this event.

Exhibitors
As always, the Academy would like to express appreciation for the generous support of our conference sponsors. The relationship built with our industry partners is invaluable to our daily practice and ultimately to the safety and well being of our patients.
