Greetings All!

Dr. ZabalaBy Jeffrey Beckenbaugh, DO
Orthopod Editor

Thank you for taking time to read your Academy’s newsletter.  There has been a lot of renewed interest in contributing to the content of the Orthopod, and we are very excited and grateful to have such participation.   In this issue we have two authors sharing original work that were voted best of all submissions by our Publications and Communications Committee.

With increased participation has come the burden of choosing which of the many submitted articles are to be included for submission.  We have developed a rating system to guide our process for selecting which of them will be included in each publication of the Orthopod.  Since this has become a more difficult task, and based on a large number of submissions, the Publications and Communications committee will be discussing a more formal structure by which we select articles that will be published in the Orthopod.  What a great problem to have!

Also, we would like to extend a special thanks to all contributing authors for their submissions.  Without their time and effort, we would not be able to provide the membership with such diverse and rich content in the newsletter.  In this issue, you will have the opportunity to catch up with the activities of the Trauma and Sports Medicine sections from the words of their section heads.  Hopefully having our sections provide content will stimulate some interest and participation in their groups, as well as help us all stay connected and interested in our section’s activities.  Future issues will highlight the activities of other sections, and some discussions may be published on hot clinical topics from the perspective our section leaders.

I hope all is well with everyone, and thank you for your continued support and interest in the e-newsletter.
