Introducing Submission Guidelines for The Orthopod
By Jeffrey P. Beckenbaugh, DO
Orthopodeditor@aoao.org
Greetings All!
Hopefully the transition and access for the new electronic version of The Orthopod has been as comfortable as possible for everyone. I would like to recognize Joye Stewart and the Academy’s leadership for their vision and guidance as we continue to refine the new look and content of our academy’s newsletter.
As part of this redevelopment, we would like to provide an avenue for our membership to highlight some of the interesting research and projects on which they have been working. With the assistance and vision of Dr. Vander Lugt and the board, guidelines have been developed that the membership can follow in order to have its work published in The Orthopod.
These guidelines are intended to balance the reality that we would like to share our members' scientific work, while at the same time recognizing this will not be a strict peer-reviewed process. We want to provide some structure to the process, but emphasize this will not be considered an actual scientific publication of this work.
Any comments or suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. The official guidelines are written below.
Guidelines for Submission of Abstracts to The Orthopod
The AOAO is accepting abstract submissions for possible inclusion in future publications of the Academy’s e-newsletter, The Orthopod. Abstracts must be original research on any topic related to the field of orthopedics and may be submitted by any member of the Academy.
Requirements
- Abstract may be a case study or literature review.
- Abstract must be in the proper format. Click here for an example.
- Abstracts submitted previously in any peer-reviewed journal will NOT be accepted.
- Submission to The Orthopod does not preclude you from submitting to other
publications. - Abstracts submitted by residents through the AOAO Case Log System may also be
submitted but must first receive Program Director approval. - There is no limit to the number of abstracts submitted by each member.
Acceptance
The Editor of The Orthopod will review submissions and determine acceptance for future publications based on relevance of research and quality of content. Either the Editor or the AOAO administrative office will notify abstract authors of acceptance and anticipated publication date.
Submission
Submit abstracts to The Orthopod editor at Orthopodeditor@aoao.org.
