John's impactful role in the Delivery System Reform Incentive Program in New York, overseeing an $8 billion investment resulting in $17 billion Medicaid funds savings, demonstrates his commitment to efficient healthcare infrastructure.
With a background as a union organizer and leader, including roles as President of District 1199P, National Organizing Coordinator for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and Organizing Director for AFT Healthcare, John brings extensive experience. His monthly articles on healthcare issues and labor highlight his dedication to protecting the field through informed advocacy.
Dr. Anna Avik works in a community practice setting as an Orthopedic Surgeon with additional board certification in Hand Surgery. She has always had a passion for musculoskeletal anatomy and injuries starting from her days at UCLA. During this time, Dr. Avik worked as a student athletic trainer with the UCLA sports teams, advancing later into the Athletic Training certification. She continued to advance her knowledge through medical school at Touro University Nevada and on to residency at the Riverside University Health Systems program. She went on to obtain her Hand Fellowship training at the University of Chicago. The upper extremity series planned for this meeting is a collaboration of common topics that will help all general Orthopedic Surgeons that encounter traumatic fingertip and other hand injuries. This is a topic that she regularly treats in both an office and operating room setting.
Dr. Blair grew up in rural Connecticut before earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland and medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. Confronted by the events of September 11th, 2001, while living in the Washington, DC area, Dr. Blair accepted the Health Professions Scholarship and joined the Army going into medical school. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, during the second surge of the Global Wars on Terrorism before furthering his training in orthopaedic trauma at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, FL. During his active duty time in the Army, Dr. Blair deployed to Afghanistan and Syria and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in 2015. He was part of the teaching faculty at William Beaumont Army Medical Center and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, TX. After completion of his military obligation in the Spring of 2020 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he began his civilian life as the Director of Orthopaedic Trauma at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University until 2023 when he transitioned his practice as the Co-Director of the Limb Salvage Center and Reconstruction Center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA in affiliation with Emory University. His hobbies include competing in ultramarathons and obstacle course races as well as spending time with his wife, young daughter and son, and dog, Sierra.

Dr. Edgar is a Senior Vice President at ACGME. In her current role, she serves as an organizational and department leader. Dr. Edgar creates and manages the Milestones resources that aid program directors, learners, and Clinical Competency Committees. She leads faculty development programming. Dr. Edgar earned her doctorate in education, focusing on organizational leadership after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences and a Master’s degree in business administration.
Michael C. Ghassibi, D.O. is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of spinal disorders. He completed his orthopedic fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Missouri. His spine fellowship is one of few that is recognized by the AOSpine North American Board. His training includes a combination of innovative minimally invasive surgery as well as traditional complex degenerative spine disorders. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Mercy Health Youngstown, Ohio and has consistently scored over the 90th percentile on his annual resident orthopedic written in-training exams as well as AOBOS Part 1 written exam. He has been involved in research since medical school and has been published in journals such as The Spine Journal. Dr. Ghassibi is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Medicine where he graduated number one in his class with highest distinction. He received his undergraduate degree from St Bonaventure University graduating Summa Cum Laude. He serves as the spine clinical preceptor for the LECOM orthopedic residency and annually reprises his role as a visiting professor for adult and pediatric spine for the medical school.
I am a recent International Medical Graduate from Lebanon and a research enthusiast in the field of orthopedic surgery. Clay Guynn, DO, is a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician who is fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine. Dr. Guynn is an expert in the non-surgical management of various painful syndromes, both new and long-lasting, including musculoskeletal disorders, peripheral nerve disorders, sports injuries and neck/back pain.
Dr. Guynn has trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnosis and ultrasound guided injections of all major joints, tendons and ligaments—including the use of corticosteroids, viscosupplemetation and regenerative medicine techniques, such as Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cell injections, dextrose prolotherapy and tenjet. For lower back pain, he performs epidural steroid injections and facet injections for pain relief, and he also is trained in newer techniques, such as radiofrequency ablation and cryoneurolysis for chronic joint and low back pain. For nerve disorders, he performs diagnostic ultrasound and electrodiagnostic studies to determine the exact location of common nerve entrapments.

Resident Research Mentoring Teams: A Support Program to Increase Resident Research Productivity
Dr. Gregory Hill is a graduate of John R. Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio. He received his doctoral degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. Hill has been a practicing orthopedic surgeon in northeast Ohio for over 30 years. He currently practices at Western Reserve Hospital and serves as chairman of the Department of Surgery and director of the Orthopedic Surgery Program. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves for over 20 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel following 2 deployments to Iraq. Hill is a past president of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO), the Society of Alumni and Friends of The Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University. In addition, he currently serves as a Trustee for the Ohio University Foundation. He has been honored by the college on numerous occasions, earning the Clinical Educator of the Year Award in 2015, the Distinguished Service Award in 2016, and the Trillium Award in 2017. Hill also received the Morty Morris, D.O. Distinguished Service Award from the AOAO for dedication to osteopathic orthopedic education in 2023. Hill’s other accolades include the National Defense Medal Service Award, the Army Commendation Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal, the Summit County Medical Alliance’s Distinguished Community/Military Service Award, and Western Reserve Hospital’s Outstanding Specialty Surgeon. He is a member of several orthopedic organizations, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association of Hand Surgeons, and the Congressional Military Selection Committee. Hill and his wife, Judi, have 4 children and 9 grandchildren and reside in Copley, Ohio.

Joseph Iannotti is currently Professor of Surgery CCLCM at CWRU and Lang Family Endowed Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery, Chief of Staff, Chief Academic and Innovations Officer Cleveland Clinic Florida. He is past chairman of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chair of Orthopaedic and Rheumatology Institute at the Cleveland Clinic 2000 - 2018.
Dr. Iannotti received his MD from Northwestern University in 1979, completed his Orthopaedic Residency training at the University of Pennsylvania in 1984, and received a PhD in cell biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987.
Dr. Iannotti’s clinical and basic science research program focuses on innovative treatments for tendon repair and tendon tissue engineering, prosthetic design, software planning and patient specific instrumentation.
Dr. Iannotti has published three textbooks and has authored over 380 original peer reviewed articles, review articles and book chapters. He is a three time recipient of Charles Neer Research Award, the Cleveland Clinic 2011 Sones Award for Innovation and Cleveland Clinic Life time Achievements Award for Innovation in 2019.
Dr. Iannotti holds approximately 120 US and International patents. In 2016 he was inducted into the National Academy of Inventors.

I am fellowship trained in Traumaplasty with a combined fellowship from Hennepin County Medical Center. My current practice consists of 70% trauma and 30% arthroplasty, including call coverage at a Level 1 and two Level 2 facilities.

I have been using Unrestricted, Caliper-Verified Kinematic Alignment for all of my partial and total knee replacements since 2018. I have performed over 2,000 knee replacements using this technique and have subsequently modified my surgical technique to include a muscle-sparing, sub-vastus surgical approach to all of my knee replacements which has helped to further enhance my patient's surgical outcomes and recoveries.
I have also created a second practice that focuses entirely on pre-surgical patient optimization for all of our surgical patients to help reduce complications and surgical risk with early intervention and wellness education/lifestyle modification.

During my residency training at Riverside University Health Systems, I was able to cover collegiate sports including baseball, soccer, and softball for University of Riverside California. This began my career in Orthopedic sports medicine. Later, in Fellowship, I had the opportunity to treat more collegiate athletes in a variety of pathologies including tennis elbow, elbow ligamentous injuries, TFCC tears, as well as sports related fracture care. Currently I am a team physician for several San Diego teams including the San Diego Gulls for Hockey, Legion for Rugby and Loyal for Soccer. I also rotate to help at local college football games. In my private practice I treat the injuries from weekend warriors to professional athletes. Platelet rich plasma and BMAC have become an active part of my practice. Dr. Schlechter is a board-certified fellowship trained Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon with a subspecialty certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Schlechter specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy and fracture care for children and adolescents.
Dr. Schlechter's philosophy of care: "I try to keep the young athlete engaged in their treatment plan and ensure that they understand their condition." Some specialized procedures that Dr. Schlechter commonly performs include growth plate sparing techniques including anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions in the growing athlete as well as reconstruction for patella instability including trochleoplasty, meniscal repairs and shoulder stabilization.
Dr. Schlechter received his Bachelor of Science degree at Arizona State University, before attending the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology. Upon graduation, Dr. Schlechter completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency thru the Riverside University Health System, here in Southern California, where he is currently the Assistant Residency Program Director for the Orthopedic Training program as well as the Director of Orthopedic Education and Research. He completed a Pediatric Orthopedic and Scoliosis fellowship at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego as well as a post-fellowship preceptorship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the Orthopedic Specialty Institute in Orange, CA.
He has lectured at various local, national and international meetings and has authored numerous book chapters and articles in peer reviewed journals. He is an active part of the clinical faculty for the Western University of Health Sciences and participates in the education of Orthopedic Surgery residents from various regional training programs as well as the emergency medicine and pediatric residents of the University of California, Irvine.
He has been selected by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS) as a board member in 2018. He conducts clinical examinations for surgeons applying for board certification, and also is an item writer for the AOBOS board examinations.
He serves as team physician for several local high schools. He has participated in several orthopedic mission trips to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and remains interested in international orthopedics. He is a fellow of the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics as well as a member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA), the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society (PRiSM) and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).

Dr. Tedesco completed his undergraduate degree at Clemson University before completing his D.O. degree at UNECOM in Biddeford, ME. His orthopedic surgery residency was sponsored by OUHCOM and centered in Massillon/Canton, OH. His fellowship in orthopedic oncology was completed in 2015 through Georgetown University and Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He is an associate clinical professor at WUCOMP-NW in Lebanon, OR, and is on clinical faculty at PNWU in Yakima, WA. He currently serves as co-associate program director of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center’s orthopedic surgery residency training program in Corvallis, OR. He is involved with grant-funded cancer research and clinical research in joint replacement surgery. Dr. Wisotsky is a fellowship trained hand, shoulder and elbow surgeon in Clearwater, Florida. He completed his undergraduate education at Northwestern University, and obtained his medical degree from George Washington University where he was inducted into the prestigious AOA society. He then completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Vermont as well as a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship in Pittsburgh, PA with Dr’s Baratz, Sotereanos, Hughes and Schmidt. Since moving to Florida after fellowship in 2006, his surgical practice specializes in the treatment of all upper extremity problems from the fingertips to the shoulder. This includes complex upper extremity issues including primary and revision arthroplasty in the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Although he is in private practice, he is an active teaching practitioner for the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program based out of Largo Medical Center.
