62nd Annual Spring Meeting - 2022
April 28 - 30, 2022

Welcome

Sean McMillan DO

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Family,

I want to be the first to invite you to our 62nd Annual Spring Meeting, being held in amazing Carlsbad, California on April 28-30, 2022. The event will be hosted at the magnificent Omni La Costa Resort & Spa and will be an ideal location for learning, teaching, and catching up. Like many of you, I have been attending AOAO meetings since I was a student. To be able to serve as the Annual Spring Meeting Chairman is an unreal feeling and I promise you we will bring out all of the stops to make it worth every second of your time.

“Sun’s Out, Guns Out! Debating New School vs Old School Concepts in Orthopedics” is our theme for this meeting. There has never been a time in orthopedics in which so many advancements have occurred in such a short period of time. The explosion of innovation and technology is allowing surgeons the opportunity to push the envelope for our patients, however there are certain tried and true principles that are timeless, no matter how cool the new gadget. Our job is to balance these two sides and there is no better place to “flex” what we are doing than in the bright sun of Carlsbad, California.

Our moderators have done an amazing job of lining of speakers of all ages, backgrounds, and expertise. I am excited to hear some spirited debates as well and I encourage you to please challenge our speakers with your thoughts during the panel discussions to get the most out of each and every moment.

For those looking for more than just lectures, the AOAO will again offer the upper extremity cadaveric lab Friday. This lab will be led by some of our osteopathic leaders from the Sports and Shoulder/Elbow sections and focus on advanced surgical techniques and decision making. CME credit will be available and the cost of the lab is a fraction of traditional labs. For surgeons specializing in lower extremity surgery and arthroplasty, we will be offering a workshop on Friday morning featuring four major robotic systems. The workshop will provide lectures and demonstrations of each robotic system in a small group setting and is included in your registration fee. Special note: These offerings are only available in person but are scheduled so you can get the most out of attending.

The pandemic may have changed all of our lives in the past two years, but the need to provide the highest care for our patients has not. Please join us in what should be our greatest Annual Spring Meeting to date. The education, networking, and camaraderie at AOAO meetings is unparalleled and I, like many of you, look forward to these meetings now more than ever.

See you all in Carlsbad!
