Resident Workshops

Friday and Saturday, October 19 and 20

Loan Repayment Workshop: The biggest financial albatross physicians face today is their student loan debt. What is the best strategy to repay this debt? Should you refinance to a lower rate? Should you pay it off as quickly as possible? What about income-based government sponsored repayment programs? Where do you even begin? This session will provide a baseline description of these matters and show you the best strategies for addressing student loan debt.

Protecting Income Workshop: A physician's greatest asset is their ability to earn income. Many people have discussed purchasing disability insurance, but where do you begin? Which are the best companies? What benefits are the most important? When should I obtain my coverage? How does this fit within a physician's overall financial world? Should you pay your student loan debt, or save for your retirement, or obtain disability insurance with the limited income you earn during training? In what order do you make your financial decisions? This session will provide examples to help you make the best and the most educated decision for you and your family.
